Standing in Truth: An Easter Reflection

  • Apr 5
  • 2 min read

There is something about the story of Peter that always brings me back to myself.

Peter—the disciple who walked closely with Jesus…who loved Him, followed Him…and yet, when the moment came, denied Him—just as Jesus said he would.

And if we’re honest, there’s something in that we all recognize. Because life will place us in those very moments. Moments where truth stands in front of us…but so does fear. Moments where standing for what is right and just may cost us—our comfort, our acceptance, our place among others.

And the question becomes

Will you stand in truth… even when you stand alone?

He gave His life to give us eternal life.

Or will you shrink back—not because you don’t know the truth, but because the weight of judgment, rejection, or false accusation feels heavier?

Peter’s story isn’t just about denial. It’s about humanity. It’s about the tension between who we are…and who we are called to be.

When you truly sit with the story of Jesus—not just His life, but His purpose—you begin to understand something deeper:

We are no different.

We are given this life with intention. We are called—not to perfection—but to purpose.

A purpose rooted in:

  • Goodness over righteousness

  • Forgiveness over pride

  • Love over fear

  • Faith over doubt

  • Hope over despair

This is where transformation begins. Not in always getting it right…but in choosing to rise again when we don’t. Because even Peter, in his denial, was not the end of the story. There was restoration. There was grace. There was a purpose still waiting for him.

The Invitation of Easter

Easter is not just a remembrance…it is an invitation. An invitation to be born again—not into perfection, but into truth. To rise again. To choose differently. To stand a little stronger, a little braver, a little more aligned with what we know is right.

A Moment to Reflect

Take a quiet moment with yourself and ask:

  • Where in my life am I being called to stand in truth?

  • What fear is holding me back from fully stepping into it?

  • What would it look like to choose truth—no matter the cost?

Let your answers meet you with compassion… not judgment.

A Gentle Prayer

Lord, In the quiet places of my heart, You already know me.

You know where I hesitate, where I fear, where I struggle to stand in truth.

Give me the courage to choose You—not just when it is easy, but when it requires strength

I don’t yet see in myself.

Teach me to walk in goodness, to lead with love, to forgive freely, and to trust deeply.

This Easter, renew my spirit. Help me rise again…in truth, in faith, and in purpose.

Amen.
